About Us
Chef/owner David Pearson has a diverse background. His career in cooking began with completing a culinary degree in Edinburgh, Scotland, whilst working as Head Chef at lively Iguana Café Bar and Restaurant. This is where he met his wife Helen. After leaving Scotland they spent time in London, David perfecting his craft and also project managing the set up of several kitchens for a boutique restaurant chain, Helen continued with a front of house role, this time in a unique, up market establishment offering fine dining and entertainment. David and Helen then picked up the pace by entering the Super Yacht industry working on some of the most prestigious yachts in the world. During eight years David spent working as chef on Super Yachts, stars and discerning guests such as Steven Spielberg, Bono, Beyonce, Jay Z, The Getty Family, businesswomen Nancy Rutter Clark and Mexican businessman Carlos Slim Helu (the world's richest person according to Wikipedia) are just a few who have been impressed by David's creative culinary repertoire. With a strong service background, superior organisational skills and exceptional eye for detail Helen took the role of chief stewardess, ensuring the smooth day to day running of the interior down to the finest detail. David and Helen have now returned to Tauranga, New Zealand, out of their enjoyment of travel and fine food Global Cuisine was born.
